Total Joint Reconstruction
When joint pain severely impacts your daily activities and quality of life despite medications, rest, and/or physical therapy, it may be time to consider a solution that will help ease your pain. The skilled physicians at Liberty Orthopedics in Northwest Missouri are experts in total joint reconstruction, which can help relieve the stiffness, swelling, pain, and limited movement that are common signs of aging, diseased, or injured joints.
Dr. Robert W. Haas, Dr. Santosh George, Dr. Ryan R. Snyder, and Dr. Joshua Niemann are board-certified orthopedic surgeons in Liberty, MO with experience in the most advanced types of hip, knee, and shoulder total joint replacement methods, also called arthroplasty.
Osteoarthritis is the most common condition that leads to the need for total joint replacement of the knee, shoulder, and hip. Sometimes injuries can hasten the process of cartilage degeneration, which causes the painful bone-on-bone rubbing that characterizes arthritis. Depending on your condition, we may recommend one of the following total joint reconstruction procedures:
Dr. Niemann performs a newer hip replacement procedure known as anterior approach minimally invasive hip replacement. During the procedure, he accesses the hip joint by making one small incision on the front (anterior) side of your hip as opposed to a larger incision on the back (posterior) side of the hip, as in a traditional hip replacement.
This approach enables the surgeon to go between the hip muscles and tissues, keeping them intact, rather than cutting and reattaching them to the hip bone. Because this surgery is less invasive, patients typically experience less pain, shorter hospital stays, faster recovery, and less time in rehabilitation.
